Pixel 6 weather widget appears in Google app beta teardown

Those who pay close attention to Google’s Pixel 6 ads may have noticed a sleek new weather widget. However, that widget has so far not been available for older Pixel phones; it seems that this may change.

9to5Google discovered two new weather widgets in a teardown of the Google app beta 12.37 APK file. There are two versions of the widget: an angled pill shape and a boring old square with rounded corners.

Although more interesting, the strange angled pill widget doesn’t display as much information. Provides the temperature and an icon indicating the current weather condition. The square version, on the other hand, offers the temperature, the current weather, the highs and lows of the day, and your location.

Both widgets look good and adapt their colors to your wallpaper on Android 12. At the moment, it is not clear if these widgets will be available in older versions of Android.

Also, for anyone desperately wanting to get their hands on the new weather widgets, they are not officially available yet. You’ll have to wait for them to launch, presumably alongside Android 12 and Pixel 6 later this year.
