Pierre Quiroga wins the 52nd edition of the Solitaire du Figaro

Pierre Quiroga is the big winner of the 52e edition of the Solitaire du Figaro after having crossed in ninth position the finish line of the fourth and last stage, won by Pierre Leboucher, Thursday September 16 evening, off Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique).

Quiroga (Skipper Maccif 2019) won for the first time, in his sixth participation, in the prestigious race which saw the birth and hardening of the greatest sailors. He succeeds Armel Le Cléac’h, winner of the Vendée Globe 2016-2017 and triple winner of the Solitaire.

Never been on the podium

Quiroga, 29, finished first in the general classification with a cumulative time of 14 days 16 hours and 24 minutes, ahead of Xavier Macaire (Snef Group) in 14 d 17 h 13 min and Tom Laperche (Brittany – CMB Performance) in 14 d 18 h 58 min.

A native of Brest but having grown up in Marseille, the skipper had never been on the final podium of the Solitaire. His best result so far was a sixth place in 2018.
