Mr. Bruneau, who just celebrated his 70th birthday last Sunday, will retire on June 16, after 46 years as an anchor at TVA.

Quebec elected officials hailed his “exceptional career” rewarded with 23 Artis trophies, two Gemini awards as well as many other distinctions, including the National Order of Quebec and the Order of Canada.

They recalled his “outstanding communicator qualities” through several eras and events that marked Quebec and even the planet.

In the motion, we also mentioned his “constant, enlightening and reassuring presence” in his delivery of the TVA Nouvelles bulletins at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., without forgetting all his humanism and his great philanthropic commitment, in particular through the Charles Foundation -Bruneau, who helps thousands of children with cancer every year, like her son Charles, who sadly passed away in March 1988 after a courageous and inspiring battle with leukemia.

Former journalists who have become deputies took the floor in the Blue Room to honor Pierre Bruneau. This is the case of the Minister of Culture and Communications, Nathalie Roy, as well as the deputies from Acadie and Rosemont, Christine St-Pierre and Vincent Marissal. The leader of the third parliamentary group, Joël Arsenault, also testified.

We applauded several times for Mr. Bruneau, who was in the stands, accompanied in particular by his wife Ginette St-Cyr.
