Pierre Arcand announces his departure


The former interim leader of the Liberal Party of Quebec (PLQ), Pierre Arcand, will not be a candidate in the next provincial elections.

The news was confirmed to the QMI Agency by the office of the leader of the PLQ, Dominique Anglade.

First elected in 2007, the MP for Mount-Royal-Outremont is the eleventh in the Liberal caucus to announce that he is not on the starting blocks for the 2022 general election. Gaétan Barrette, Lise Thériault, Christine St- Pierre, Hélène David, Francine Charbonneau, Monique Sauvé, Jean Rousselle, Nicole Ménard, David Birnbaum and Paule Robitaille have all announced that they are retiring from political life.
