“At times, the idea begins to permeate that a more infectious but less dangerous variant would have the potential to eventually put an end to the pandemic,” analysts from the local CI Banco firm said about the market situation.

Two vaccine makers said their drugs offer protection against the omicron variant, while data from the UK suggest that the new mutation may lead to fewer hospitalizations than the Delta variant.
