Peel Memorial in Brampton temporarily closed until at least Monday

The urgent care center at Peel Memorial Center for Integrated Health and Wellness will be closed at least until the end of Monday, January 10, to direct staff and physicians to the places where the demand is greatest.

William Osler Health System made the announcement on Sunday, January 9, explaining that the decision was made as a result of “increased volume in Osler’s emergency departments and patients requiring admission for care, further compounded by capacity extreme and personnel pressures. “

The decision comes a few days after Osler said Peel Memorial would revert to pre-pandemic hours (8 a.m. to 9 p.m. instead of 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.) starting Monday.

Osler said he has a transition plan to ensure that patients who arrive at Peel Memorial during the temporary closure are appropriately redirected.

The status of Peel Memorial will be reviewed on a day-to-day basis based on available staff and capacity at the other Osler, Brampton Civic and Peel Memorial hospitals.
