Panama seeks to review trade agreement with the United States

The Central American country said that with its request it seeks to promote adjustments to the current tariff conditions in the so-called Trade Promotion Agreement (TPC) to protect the local production of rice, milk and its derivatives, as well as pork and chicken.

“We propose holding a frank dialogue, like the one that on other occasions has allowed us to resolve our differences, to review the Tariff Elimination Program agreed in the TPC,” the Panamanian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

United States It is the main business partner of the Central American nation and the largest user of its emblematic interoceanic canal.
