Earle’s 2022 release, Jerry Jeff, is packed with his covers of material written by the late Jerry Jeff Walker. The late singer, born Ronald Clyde Crosby in Oneonta, New York, died in October 2020 in his adopted home of Austin, Texas. Among his classic songs are Mr. Bojangles from 1968 and the anthem Up Against the Wall Redneck Mother from 1973.

Backed by his star band, the Dukes, Earle primarily chose songs from Jerry Jeff Walker’s catalog that would be less familiar to anyone who wasn’t a serious fan. This meant that Earle could really put his own distinctive spin on tunes from Gettin’ By to the beautiful Hill Country Rain.

Expect to hear a wide range of tracks from Steve Earle’s career when he plays at the Great Canadian Casino in Coquitlam on August 13. Tickets go on sale March 22 at 10 a.m. at livenation.com.
