A 39-year-old woman lost her life in a violent swerve in Val-des-Monts, in the Outaouais region, on Monday evening.
The accident occurred around 10:20 p.m. when the motorist traveling northbound on Route du Carrefour lost control of his vehicle near the intersection with Mitchell Street.
For a reason still unknown, the motorist crossed the center line to end his race against a low wall, said the Police Department of the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais.
Seriously injured, the victim was quickly transported to a hospital in Gatineau where he was declared dead.
The Carrefour road has been closed to traffic in both directions, but a detour has been put in place by teams from the Ministry of Transport, it was added.
