The Ottawa Titans Baseball Club has signed infielder Marcel Lacasse, who is from Gatineau.

The 23-year-old spent the 2021 season with the Barrie Baycats of the Intercountry Baseball League, hitting .273 with two home runs and 15 RBIs in 25 games. He began his college career at Western Texas College in 2017, before transferring to West Texas A&M for the 2020 season. In his college days, Lacasse hit a combined .367 average with 22 home runs and 94 RBIs in 93 games. He was inducted into the Canadian varsity team of the Canadian Baseball Network in both 2018 and 2019.

With his 2020 NCAA season canceled, Lacasse returned home to play in the Quebec Youth Major League, where he was named the league’s best offensive player.

Lacasse played for Sport-Études Polyvalente Nicolas-Gatineau and Gatineau Tyrans AAA / Jr Elite.
