The 44-year-old, resident of High Prairie, Alta., was arrested Saturday night and is due in court Sunday. He faces five counts, including mischief, obstructing police and advising to commit crimes.

Mr. Billings had been documenting the protests in Ottawa for weeks on his “Freedom Forusall” Facebook page, where he posted numerous videos, often live, and galvanizing protesters with loud cries of “freedom”.

“Freedom George” captured on video his arrest on Saturday evening, while filming himself live while driving in the city, boasting of having bypassed the police roadblocks to return to the capital.

At one point, the police can be seen intercepting the vehicle and asking the man and his passengers to get out.

“Looks like they got me,” Mr. Billings can be heard saying as he unbuckles his seat belt to get out of his van.

“You are under arrest for ‘mischief’,” the police quickly explained to Tyson Billings, who replied that he had “done nothing wrong”, while a few demonstrators in the vicinity shouted “Freedom George”. The arrest went smoothly.

Mr. Billings joins other leaders of the “freedom convoy” arrested in recent days, including Pat King, Christopher John Barber and Tamara Lich.
