Opposition mayors in CDMX ask for public debate to define the 2022 Economic Package

The Union of Mayors of Mexico City (UNACDMX) called for all sectors of the city to participate in the discussion of the 2022 Economic Package and the modification proposals be taken into account.

Derived from the fact that recently the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, asked that “not a comma be changed” to the budget and expenditure projects, the spokesperson for the UNACDMX, Mauricio Tabe Echartea, assured that a review is needed.

At a press conference, the mayor of Miguel Hidalgo stressed that both the Expenses budget as the Income Law they need to be brought up for public debate.

That it be discussed in the Congress of Mexico City and that it be conducted with respect to the proposals made by the opposition mayors. The capital’s government must govern for everyone and not only for the mayors of its political party, so the distribution of resources must be equitable, “he said.

Mauricio Tabe Echartea commented that it is necessary to review how resources are distributed, since the variables of total and floating population, poverty, urban area, green area and conservation land do not coincide.

“Seven out of 10 pesos are taken for other purposes, not for other mayors and that does not happen in any municipality in the country, in any city in the world, that a property tax is taken to another level of government,” he stressed. .

The mayor specified that priority should be given to the lower-income population, since currently, one in four people live in poverty and are located in the west of Mexico City.

Schools

He stated that in Azcapotzalco For next year, most of the requests will be met with the new budget.

The mayor of Tlalpan, Alfa González Magallanes, pointed out that the public schools in his demarcation are also in “critical conditions.”

“We need water, we need maintenance, repair of windows, retaining walls in some cases, and there are some issues that can be more serious that even require a civil protection diagnosis,” he reported.

He indicated that a new provision is needed from the Government of Mexico City to handle the issue of the new variant of Covid-19, Ómicron.
