OPP charged with murder in 1985 death of a baby in Perth County | The Canadian News

A 62-year-old St. Marys woman faces a first-degree murder charge under the 1985 Penal Code in connection with the death of a baby decades ago.

The Perth County OPP says its officers, under the direction of the OPP’s criminal investigation branch and with the help of the Stratford Police Service, “began an investigation” Thursday into the 1985 death of Meghan Thompson, 25 days old.

Katherine Thompson, who would be in her 20s at the time of death, has been charged in the case.

Police say they will not release further details at this time and that “there is a publication ban in the process.”
