Ontario Police Warn of Social Media Trend Involving Participants Kicking in Front Doors | The Canadian News

Ontario Provincial Police are warning youth and parents about a social media trend that involves kicking on someone’s door.

The trend has been gaining traction on TikTok and often includes contestants playing Kesha’s song “Die Young” when they knock on a person’s door.

The trend has spread in Ontario and provincial police are now warning parents to talk to their children about the potential impacts that could come from participating.

OPP recently tweeted a video that they say appears to show three young men participating in the challenge early Saturday in Port Dover and kicking someone’s front door.

“Not only are they putting themselves in harm’s way, but it’s also putting the owner in some kind of distress,” said Acting Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said.

The story continues below the ad.

“We are just putting up a reminder, please, if you are a parent or caregiver, be sure to sit down and talk with your children … about the ramifications of their actions and decisions that they make because technically right now, if you start looking at this incident, They are not only trespassing at night, which is a crime, they also basically damaged the door. “

The police are looking for the people captured in the video.

Police said carrying out the trend could also be considered a prank. If the door is opened, breaking and entering could also be considered.

A similar incident has been reported in Hamilton, but it is unclear if the police are investigating that case.

Police have also received other reports of vandalism in southwestern Ontario stemming from different social media challenges.
