The Twitter account of Randy Hillier, an Ontario MP who is very critical of measures to combat COVID-19 in his province, was suspended on Tuesday by the social network.

The representative of Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston, who sits as an independent at Queen’s Park, has become one of the main opponents of health measures in recent months and has bluntly supported the demonstrators who have occupied Ottawa.

Mr. Hillier explained to CTV News that his account was suspended because he dared to “tell the truth”. According to him, the social network would not have appreciated that he shared and commented on recently published Pfizer documents, which were taken up by several opponents of vaccination to denounce the supposed dangerousness of vaccines.

The MP has regularly spoken out for conspiracy theories about vaccination or the origins of the virus.

A Twitter spokesperson told the Ottawa Citizen that the member’s Twitter account has been permanently blocked.

Back in February, Ottawa police said they were investigating some of Hillier’s tweets. The latter had advised his subscribers to call 911 en masse to overwhelm the telephone lines, in order to disrupt the police operation aimed at ending the siege of Ottawa.
