Meanwhile, a head-on collision has shut down traffic on the Sea-to-Sky Expressway south of Squamish.

Squamish RCMP said it received multiple reports of the accident on Highway 99 north of Porteau Cove just before 9 a.m. M.

Two people were involved in the collision and both were taken to hospital, police said. The firefighters had to remove one of the drivers from his vehicle.

The incident closed the road in both directions for several hours between Brunswick Beach Road and Porteau Cove. Just after noon Tuesday, police reopened a single lane to allow alternate traffic. Motorists should expect delays, RCMP said.
