After two years in which it was left without a union representative, with the departure of Carlos Romero Deschamps, the federal government and the Oil Union agreed on the conditions for the development of the process that will not only integrate, for the first time, the free, secret and direct; but integrates electronic voting.

Some of the names that have been mentioned as interested in contending are:

  • Arturo Flores Conteras, from section 01.
  • Hector Sosa, from section 34.
  • Cristina Alonso García, from the 44.
  • Senator from Morena Cecilia Sánchez.

In this regard, the senator commented that “for five six-year terms Romero Deschamps benefited from the STPRM, but also created a network of corruption that today wants to continue controlling and looting our union, we cannot allow it, this is the time to remove them.”

It should be noted that in order to accredit the candidacy they must meet four requirements: be an active member of the union, be a plant worker, have a minimum seniority of 10 years and be at least 25 years old. The address to carry out this registration is located at number 15 Calle Zaragoza, Colonia Guerrero, Cuauhtémoc City Hall.

In this regard, the secretary of Labor and Social Welfare, Luisa María Alcalde, commented that “the election of the general secretary will be a pioneer with the use of electronic voting, through which fast and reliable results will be obtained.

The tool, developed by the Ministry of Labor (STPS) and named Remote Labor Voting System (Sirvolab), was placed at the disposal of the union, which is the one who organizes the election with total independence, and so far has received the registration of 50,000 workers in 150 registration modules”.

Likewise, Mayor Luján said that the company will be in charge of providing the list of workers with the right to vote and maintaining a neutral position; The Labor Center will be in charge of monitoring the stages of the process, will attend to complaints and has the power to qualify the election. To STPS, he said, it is up to him to provide the digital voting platform, as well as to accompany the entire process.
