Officials are set to provide an update on the investigation into an explosion in Ottawa, Ontario that left at least one person dead.

According to police, an explosion occurred at Eastway Tank on Merivale Road on Thursday.

in a Press release issued on Friday, Ottawa police said one of the three men sent to hospital on Thursday had died of injuries sustained during the blast.

According to police, the whereabouts of five people are still unknown: four men and one woman who are believed to have been in the building when the explosion occurred.

Their identities have not yet been revealed.

Police said recovery and investigation efforts are underway at the site.

“The site is badly damaged and these efforts and investigations will take time,” the statement read.

According to police, no survivors are believed to be found.

According to the statement, the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has dispatched “numerous investigators” who “will be the primary ones in determining the origin and cause of the explosion and fire.”

Police said the Ottawa Police Arson Unit “will act as agent to the coroner and will be the lead investigative unit for OPS.”

The statement also said the Ontario Ministry of Labor will conduct a parallel investigation.

The Ottawa Fire Services will provide “scene security and logistical support.”

Officials are scheduled to provide an update at 1:30 pm ET.
