Nuevo León threads two quarters with loss in the employer registers: Coparmex

Monterrey, NL. The federative entity registered for the second consecutive quarter a drop in patterns, of -14,430, compared to those in the same period of 2020, due to the weak economic performance due to the third wave of Covid-19, and the outsourcing reform, indicates an analysis of the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) New Lion, with data from the National Survey of Occupation and Employment of Inegi.

In the third quarter of the year, there were 105,370 people in the state who said they were formal and informal employers. The figure is 12.04% lower than that registered in the same period of 2020, and lower than that of the second and first quarters of this year.

In the first quarter of 2021 there were 112,207 formal employers e informal on New Lion, this figure dropped to 108,246 in the second quarter and dropped to 105,370 in the third quarter, according to data from the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (Enoe) of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).

However, according to the data of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), the loss of patterns in the state is occurring in the informal sector.

Cecilia Carrillo López, director of Coparmex Nuevo Leon, attributed this drop in the number of companies to the weak economic performance that caused the third wave of Covid-19 and the absence of public support for the business sector.

On the other hand, the directive added that the reduction in the number of employers could also be the result of the outsourcing reform.

“The closure of businesses, formal and informal, is regrettable because a family stops receiving an income. In Nuevo León we have a high sense of fulfillment and we know that informal businesses can soon become formal.

“Nuevo León is one of the first two entities with the greatest employer formality in the country,” he highlighted.

Employers registered with the IMSS

On the other hand, the number of formal employers registered with the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), as of October it reached 74,364 records, that is, 4,705 more compared to the same period in 2020.

At informal employer sector, by gender, it is men who suffer the worst closings of their businesses compared to women. The decrease in the third quarter of the year of male employers was -9,948, compared to those in the same period of 2020, while in the case of women the number of closings was -4,482 in the same period.
