Nuevo León registers Foreign Direct Investment for 1,105.8 million dollars in the first quarter


Monterey, NL. According to the figures of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) accounted for by the Federal Economy Secretariat, Nuevo León captured 1,105.8 million dollars in the first quarter of 2022, behind Mexico City with 7,973.2 million dollars and Jalisco with 1,318.9 million.

In recent days, the state Secretary of Economy indicated that in the first six months of the new administration, 24 projects were captured for 2,200 million dollars of FDI.

The FDI who registered New Lion from January to March of this year it showed a decrease of -29.85% compared to the same period of 2021, in which 1,576.4 million dollars were registered.

By countries, Argentina invested 462.3 million dollars in the first quarter, followed by USA with 447.5 million dollars; Spain with 168.0 million; Denmark with 42.4 million and other countries 37.0 million dollars.

It is worth mentioning that the state Secretary of Economy, Iván Rivas Rodríguez, highlighted that in the fourth quarter of 2021, 921.7 million dollars were registered in Nuevo León, a figure that represented 25% of the FDI registered in Mexico.

“We believe that Nuevo León is the perfect setting to do business and invest, we have a strategic geographic location, economic openness, excellent connectivity, and we are a hub in higher education, what really sets us apart is the warmth and good work of our people”, he indicated, during the investment announcement of the French company Faurecia, on May 18, which will produce metal structures for seats and interiors of the vehicle.
