Nuevo León Energy Cluster considers it difficult to approve the electricity reform

Monterrey, NL. The Nuevo León Energy Cluster considers that it is difficult for the electricity reform to be approved, because in the Congress of the Union 54 votes of the PRI to be approved in that chamber, before being sent to the Senate and local Congresses.

With the electrical reform, the private ones that generate energy for self-consumption, must have the self-generation plant next to the building to which they will supply electricity, so that they do not use the transmission network of CFE, said César Cadena Cadena, president of the Nuevo León Energy Cluster.

The CFE mentions that in 2013 self-supply permits were extended for large factories to produce their own electricity, however they began to sell electricity using the transmission lines of Federal electricity commission.

There are currently 239 self-supply plants.

In this sense, Irazú Rodríguez Garza, Distribution Manager of the North Gulf Division of CFEHe recently commented that without the Reform it was projected that by 2024, CFE would generate only 30% of the country’s electricity and by 2029 this would be reduced to 16 percent. For this reason, the Reform seeks that CFE can generate at least 54% of the electricity and the private ones 46%.

Another argument made by the official was that from 2018 to 2021 the CFE has had to absorb 49,606 million pesos, because the real cost is not covered in the payment for porting (rights that companies pay to use the transmission lines and distribution to CFE) and cause instability and loss of reliability in the system.

“The CFE is supporting, without receiving payment, the intermittency of wind and solar generation from the private sector,” emphasized the official of the CFE.

Alternative

On the other hand, in distributed generation (power generation on site, mainly solar panels) “they cannot agree, there are those who say that this segment is the only one that is growing every day, the Ministry of Energy has said that it is going to stay, but if the law is applied, it will not stay because they (CFE) do not want any private party to generate electricity of any kind, ”said César Cadena.

In this regard, the Distribution Manager of the North Gulf Division of CFE, said that the company will promote distributed generation in homes, schools, buildings, irrigation wells, through the sustainable use of all energy sources available to the Nation. , where the user will benefit directly.
