Nova Scotia’s NDP Leadership 2022 Rules Approved, Voting Scheduled for June

Nova Scotia NDP has approved the rules that will govern the Party’s 2022 leadership competition.

“This year, New Democrats will gather to elect the next leader of our Party. “This is an exciting opportunity to build on the NSNDP’s work for something better in Nova Scotia,” NSNDP President Carol Ferguson said in a news release on Saturday.

Party members will be able to start voting on June 20 with results following June 25.

Officials say leadership will have hopefuls until May 21 to register as a candidate and those who want to vote have until May 30 to register as an NSNDP member.

“By engaging in this democratic process, members will shape the direction of our Party for years to come,” Ferguson said.

Officials say Nova Scotia’s NDP leader Gary Burrill will remain in office until the June voting results are announced. Burrill will also continue as MLA for Halifax Chebucto.
