Nayarit suspends face-to-face classes after confirmation of the first case of Ómicron variant in the entity

The government of Nayarit ordered the suspension of face-to-face classes for a period of two weeks, before the increase in Covid-19 cases and after having detected the first case of the Ómicron variant in the entity.

“Following the recommendations of health institutions and in order to take the necessary measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and protect the health and safety of girls, boys and adolescents, mothers and fathers, as well as teachers and staff in general, the state government has ordered the suspension of face-to-face classes for a period of two weeks at all educational levels, continuing under the distance class method, “the state government announced in a brief statement.

The governor of the state, Miguel Angel Navarro Quintero, announced on the afternoon of this Thursday, January 6, that the National Public Health Laboratory confirmed the first infection of the new variant in this locality, for which he announced that new measures will be taken.

“This variety (variant) is affecting children, we are going to vaccinate Health personnel in the course of this week and we are going to be vaccinating children or young people under 18 who have risk factors,” said Navarro Quintero .

“I have to take measures and we are going to have only virtual education, not face-to-face, to be observing how the disease is developing in our state, making permanent monitoring for the next two weeks,” said the Nayarit governor.

Meanwhile, the State Committee to Combat Covid-19 of Nayarit announced other restrictions, among which a 50% reduction in capacity in closed spaces and businesses such as restaurants, bars, clubs, billiards and canteens stands out.

They detailed that public transport and hotels will operate with 75% of their capacity, in addition, the holding of massive events scheduled for the next dates in the entity will be suspended.
