Ukraine welcomes arms supply

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba welcomed the “precedent” created by the decision to Germany to supply the first heavy weapons to Ukraine.

“A precedent has been created. The psychological obstacle (to supplying heavy weapons to Ukraine) has been overcome,” says the minister in a video posted on his Facebook account, as part of his visit to the German capital.

After initially sending defensive armaments to Ukraine, Germany will send 155mm artillery pieces. According to Kuleba, Germany it also provides training to Ukrainian soldiers in the use of these weapons.

“This is a very important moment for our relations because it will be the first heavy weapons that Germany will soon send to Ukraine,” he said.

The Ukrainian minister also welcomed the change in Berlin’s position regarding its dependence on Russian hydrocarbons.

“My impression is that the fundamental political decision regarding German dependency is a huge problem, and that it must be ended, and this decision has already been taken.”
