National Guard admits firing by its elements in the Echegaray ejido of Chiapas

The National Guard (GN) confirmed that elements of that corporation fired shots at a vehicle transporting migrants in the Echegaray ejido in Chiapas, because the driver refused to stop the unit, and even tried to ram the guards.

The GN mentioned that it handed over to the ministerial authorities the weapons of its elements and that the investigations are already being carried out.

In a statement, the National Guard reported that around 01:40 a.m. on October 31, elements of that corporation had knowledge of a group of three vehicles carrying out maneuvers on the ground, and that they evaded the “Huixtla” security post.

He indicated that he immediately implemented patrols to try to locate the vehicles, and on a dirt road that leads to the Echegaray ejido, the National Guard personnel came across a pick-up truck, whose driver was stopped. by means of audible and visible signals to carry out a preventive check.

“Contrary to the instructions, the driver tried to ram the elements of the National Guard, accelerating the vehicle’s march, so in the face of the driver’s response and seeing his integrity at imminent risk, they activated their weapons to stop the vehicle, achieving the arrest. of his march approximately 50 meters ahead “.

“As they approached the car they noticed that several people got out of it and tried to run in different directions, however, they were secured,” he said.

The GN indicated that inside the vehicle they remained four people who were injuredas well as one that had no vital signs.

“The National Guard immediately provided first aid to the wounded, who were later transferred to the regional hospital for care,” he said.

He explained that the driver of the vehicle was insured and was at the disposal of the Attorney General of the Republic. 9 migrants of different nationalities were rescued in coordination with the National Migration Institute (INM).
