National crude oil production drops 0.8% monthly in October

National oil production was 1,651 barrels per day in October, which was reduced by 0.8% compared to the previous month, although it showed an increase of 1.5% when compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the report. of the National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH).

This monthly reduction contrasts with the 3.1% increase in monthly production in September, after six consecutive months of monthly falls of between 0.1% and 3.2% in oil extraction.

The allocations of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) had a production of 1,514 barrels per day in that period, with which they showed a fall of 0.9% compared to September of this year, to reach a volume similar to that reported in the same month 2020.

Meanwhile, contracts that produce oil since the 2014 reform in the country, both operated by the state oil company and privately, reported a production of 137,342 barrels per day, which is 0.3% lower than that of September, but achieved an increase of 21.6 percent.

In turn, the production that Pemex would report when participating as a partner in a contract, as an operator in the case of the Ek Balam shallow water block, or within its allocations was 1,583 million barrels per day, this is 95.8% of the extraction national.

The Pemex contract in Ek Balam reported an average extraction of 69,173 barrels per day during October, its lowest level since February, which in turn was 2.7% lower than September production, although it showed an annual increase of 19.6 % compared to the same month in 2020.

On the part of the private parties, the contracts granted through farmouts for associations with Pemex in mature onshore fields reported a joint production of 10,565 barrels per day, which had a monthly reduction of 1.6% and that in one year has fallen by 15.8%. hundred.

Contracts that migrated from previous regimes had a better performance, accumulating 26,190 barrels per day as a whole, with a reduction of 1.9% per month, but with an annual increase of 28.3%.

Among the fields awarded in the second phase of Round 1 in fields ready for development in shallow waters, the one operated by the Italian ENI in the Miztón field had an extraction of 14,625 barrels per day, with a reduction of 1% per month and of 13 % per year. Meanwhile, the one operated by the consortium between Argentines Hokchi, in the field of the same name, reported an extraction of 14,423 barrels per day, with a monthly increase of 19.4%, after increasing its production 9.6 times in one year.

And the 11 contracts awarded in oil rounds of the past six-year term that already have production accumulated an extraction volume of 33,320 barrels per day, with an increase of 10.8% per month and 51.3% per year, once again reaching the highest level of extraction and recovering pre-pandemic levels.
