Murder Charge Filed After 19-Year-Old Woman Found Dead Near Williams Lake, BC – BC | The Canadian News

A second-degree murder charge was filed after a young woman was found dead in a home in central British Columbia.

A statement from the Northern District RCMP says the 19-year-old’s death was confirmed Monday when police and paramedics were called to the home in Esk’etemc, a First Nations community near Williams Lake.

A 23-year-old man was arrested at the same time and investigators say the two knew each other.

This is a tragic incident that should never have happened, Said Inspector Lorne Wood. Our thoughts are with all those affected.

The RCMP statement says that the BC Public Prosecution Service approved a second degree murder charge against Waylon Harry.

He remains in custody and court records show that he is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Williams Lake via video conference on January 12.

Williams Lake RCMP units, including the Indigenous Police Services and the RCMP Forensic Identification Section, are in contact with the local government and are continuing to investigate the death with the BC Forensic Service.
