Motorist killed after head-on collision on the Côte-Nord motorway

The victim’s SUV veered into the opposite lane and struck a pickup truck.

A 57-year-old man died after the SUV he was driving collided head-on Sunday night with a pickup truck on Highway 138 in Longue-Rive in the Côte-Nord region.

La Sûreté du Québec said the incident occurred at 7 p.m. when the victim’s vehicle veered into the opposite lane and struck the van.

Both drivers, who were traveling alone, were taken to the hospital. The truck driver suffered less serious injuries.

An SQ accident investigator is examining the circumstances of the incident.
