More than 80% of NFTs on OpenSea are fake, plagiarism or spam

More than 80% of non-fungal tokens or NFTs are minted on the market for free OpenSea these are creations or artworks that are plagiarized, falsified or ‘spam’, as the platform itself said after checking the user’s comments.

The online cryptocurrency market OpenSea explained why he decided to limit the number of NFTs allowed per collection to 50 using his free currency tool, Collection Manager.

“Every decision we make is made with our creators in mind. We originally built the shared store contract to make it easy for creators to get on the platform,” OpenSea said on Twitter.

However, this initiative has been undermined by the “improper use” of the free currency feature of non-disposable assets which, according to the platform, has “increased exponentially” recently.

Specifically, the platform points out that “more than 80% of the articles created with this tool were plagiarism, fake collections or spam”, a fact it shares after receiving comments from the community.

For this reason, it made the decision to change its free currency policy, which allowed users create NFT without paying for those artworks, and limits it to five collections with 50 items each, totaling 250 assets.

However, OpenSea reversed this decision after receiving several criticisms from platform users, who complained that they had not received a ‘marketplace’ warning to be able to plan their projects.

In addition to announcing this change in plans, OpenSea has indicated that it is working on new solutions to ensure the safe circulation of NFTs and has ensured that it will implement the following changes as soon as they are announced to its users.
