The two suspects, a man and a woman, both aged 24, are alleged to have worked at a condominium complex in the center of the city. A search of the condo by investigators turned up 50 cell phones, 40 SIM cards, seven laptops and a collection of routers.

An analysis of the seized items will be conducted, after which charges will be brought against the two suspects.

Police said the scam was carried out by scammers who posed as big business and managed to obtain personal information from their victims through text messages. Investigators say the scam earned the perpetrators more than $ 170,000, although the full scale of the fraud has yet to be determined.
