It took the help of firefighters to get the man out from under the truck.

According to preliminary information collected by the police, both the truck and the cyclist were heading south on Saint-Laurent when the driver of the truck tried to turn right onto the Rue de Liège and struck the cyclist.

The truck driver, a man in his 60s, was treated at the scene for shock.

A perimeter has been established and Saint-Laurent is closed south of Crémazie Boulevard to allow collision experts to review the scene.

Brabant said the street closure resulted in a buildup of traffic driving at rush hour.
