Why we love it: Montreal-based footwear brand Maguire Shoes will appear in Vancouver this May. And they’ll bring some fashionable friends.

Founded in 2017 by sisters Myriam Maguire and Romy Belzile-Maguire, the girl-approved Canadian footwear and accessories brand has built a fan base for its stylish European-made shoes.

And now, the duo is bringing the collection to Vancouver for a limited time with a Vancouver Pop-Up with the designer. Eliza Faulkner. Taking place in Studies of the decade (88 West 8th Ave. No. 100, Vancouver), home to the sustainable denim brand of the same name, the pop-up shop will be open May 11-12 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“Vancouvers are very fashion savvy and love to express their unique style with fun, personalized looks,” says Myriam Maguire. “Given the city’s emphasis on outdoor living, our shoes’ combination of comfort and original design resonates naturally.”

Next, the Maguire Shoes team will take its shoes south of the border for a pop-up store in Seattle at 210 South Washington St. from May 17 to 19, and other Vancouver brands Nettle’s Tale will join Decade Studio for the shopping event.

The pop-up stores will offer styles to fit in and try on, focusing on new spring and summer styles. (This fashion editor points out the brand Velada Apartments and Palma Boots as two personal favorites of the brand). The shoes will be available for purchase and shipping, according to the company.

“Our emerging strategy is not just about selling shoes; it’s about building lasting connections with local communities and tapping into the fashion and design scenes,” says Maguire. “Through these connections, we collaborate with independent and women-led brands, supporting each other in growth and expanding our reach.

“For example, this is how Decade Studios will host Eliza Faulkner and us for our stop in Vancouver, and how we’ll then travel with Decade and Nettle’s Tale for our stop in Seattle. “We will also be partnering with A Bronze Age and Wolf Circus for our pop-up in Los Angeles later this season.”

We hope the company’s third West Coast pop-up indicates interest in opening a potential Vancouver store for the footwear brand in the future. The company currently operates boutiques in Montreal, Toronto and New York.
