Montreal: 26-year-old man seriously injured by gunfire


A 26-year-old man is in critical condition Saturday night after being shot in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough of Montreal.

The event occurred around 7:40 p.m. at the intersection of Saint-Donat and Brouage streets, according to the spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

The victim was injured in the upper body and was found at the scene by the police. She was transported to a hospital in a serious condition, it was said.

The location where the shots took place has yet to be determined. No arrests had been made around 9 p.m.

A safety perimeter was established in order to understand the causes and circumstances of the event.
