Molotov cocktail launcher shot dead outside police station

Officers from a police station in Raleigh, North Carolina, fatally shot a man who allegedly set fire to several police vehicles in the parking lot on Saturday.

The Raleigh Police Chief says around 1:30 p.m., a police officer noticed a man appear to be setting fire to cruisers outside the police station. It would appear that the individual was using Molotov cocktails.

At least two police cars were “engulfed” in flames, the police chief said.

Several officers then arrested the man asking him to stop his misdeeds.

The latter, however, continued to set fire to the vehicles and even threw one of the Molotov cocktails at a police officer.

The officers then opened fire, hitting the man with several projectiles. He was then taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity, however, has not been revealed.

An independent investigation will take place to shed light on this incident which was captured by several surveillance cameras, including those worn by the police present.
