“I spoke to the CEO last week. We are in discussions to finalize the agreement. We are still in discussion. I think that Quebec is in a good position too,” indicated the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, François-Philippe Champagne, on the sidelines of an announcement.

Saturday, The newspaper pointed out that the pharmaceutical giant Moderna has just registered as a lobbyist to obtain public funds from the Quebec state, even if it has not yet decided whether it will build its factory here.

“The decision on where to place such a facility depends on many factors,” the Newspaper Patricia Gautier, President of Moderna Canada.

“The biofabrication plant we want to build is a very complex project, with multiple key components that need to be considered in parallel and which take time to integrate,” she added.

“Preparing for the future”

However, on Monday, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry in the Trudeau government recalled that even if the pandemic seemed to be moving away from our lives, the objective of having a vaccine manufacturing plant of Moderna remained very important.

“Yes, COVID-19 seems to be behind us, but the idea behind it was to prepare for the future,” explained in an interview with the Newspaper Francois-
Philip Champagne.

Last Friday, the office of Prime Minister François Legault indicated that it had not yet had a meeting with Moderna on this subject.

Last December, The newspaper wrote that Quebec was going out of its way to have the plant here rather than on Ontario soil.

Cities like Montreal, Laval, Quebec and Sherbrooke hope to obtain the future manufacturing plant, which could represent an investment of several hundred million dollars in their backyard.
