The search for a missing 15-year-old in Squamish has tragically ended.

Richie Stelmack’s body was discovered Saturday morning in the Mashiter area of ​​the Garibaldi Highlands.

Stelmack was reported missing on September 22. An exhaustive search followed by community members along with Squamish RCMP, fire department, and search and rescue officers.

“There is no evidence of foul play and the family has been notified and is requesting privacy during this very difficult time,” RCMP said in a press release.

“The Squamish RCMP will work with the BC Forensic Service on this investigation.”

There will be lane closures and traffic delays in the area throughout Saturday.

“Squamish Fire, Squamish RCMP, Squamish and Search and Rescue first send thoughts to Richie’s family, our hearts go out to them,” said Sgt. Sascha Banks in the statement.
