The search for a missing 15-year-old in Squamish has tragically ended.

Richie Stelmack’s body was discovered Saturday morning in the Mashiter area of the Garibaldi Highlands.
Stelmack was reported missing on September 22. An exhaustive search followed by community members along with Squamish RCMP, fire department, and search and rescue officers.
“There is no evidence of foul play and the family has been notified and is requesting privacy during this very difficult time,” RCMP said in a press release.
“The Squamish RCMP will work with the BC Forensic Service on this investigation.”
There will be lane closures and traffic delays in the area throughout Saturday.
“Squamish Fire, Squamish RCMP, Squamish and Search and Rescue first send thoughts to Richie’s family, our hearts go out to them,” said Sgt. Sascha Banks in the statement.
“We would also like to acknowledge all the support and assistance from the Squamish community and the surrounding area, along with the media who ensured that everything possible was done to find Richie.
“They have been a very hard and difficult days and this has not been the end we expected. One thing I know Squamish will do in the days and weeks to come is that we will be joining Richie family, friends and members of our community. “
