Minister of Finance in Chile will meet with Secretary of the US Treasury

The agenda of the Minister of Finance in Chile, Mario Marcel, does not stop. The head of public finance left for Washington to join the Spring Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank. One of the “highlights” of the trip will be his meeting with his American counterpart, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.

In it, it is contemplated to analyze the global economy and the challenges of their respective countries, pointing out the economic agenda of President Gabriel Boric. It is also expected to address the bilateral tax treaty -which is ready to be voted on in the national Senate-, and shared concerns about climate change.

Marcel’s activities in Washington will begin with a lunch with the executive director of Chile at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Carlos Álvarez. Then, the minister will hold a meeting with the director of the IMF’s Western Hemisphere Department, Ilan Goldfajn, and later he will give a talk to investors at an event organized by JP Morgan. The last event today will be a dinner with the Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean at the World Bank, Carlos Felipe Jaramillo.

On Thursday he will meet with Yellen and the first meeting of the Minister of Finance with his peers from the Pacific Alliance will take place. Marcel will meet on Friday with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.
