Middlesex OPP arrests man for failing to stay in 2021 fatal crash – London | The Canadian News

Middlesex OPP says a southwestern Ontario man has been arrested for failing to remain at the scene of a fatal collision.

Late last year, OPP’s Western Region Traffic Incident Control and Control Team and Middlesex County task force responded to a fatal crash on Calvert Drive in Adelaide-Metcalfe Township.

OPP says the crash resulted in the death of 45-year-old Johannes Francis Smolders of Strathroy, Ontario on October 11, 2021.

On Thursday, police arrested a 51-year-old man from Brooke-Alvinston, Ontario, for failing to remain at the scene.

The defendant was taken into custody and was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing in London on Friday.
