Wings add ryan
Forward Bobby Ryan will have another chance to relive his career with the Detroit Red Wings.
Ryan, 34, who was the second overall pick in the 2005 NHL Draft, signed a pro test contract with the Red Wings on Tuesday and will join the team for the start of training camp Thursday.
Ryan signed a one-year deal with the Red Wings last season and scored four goals in his first three games, but his season ended in late March and he required triceps surgery in April.
At his exit meeting with the media in May, Ryan, who finished the season with seven goals and 14 points from 33 games, said he looked forward to another shot with the Red Wings.
“It’s been an amazing place to play,” Ryan said. “I feel like the true and normal experience was stolen from me (both because of the injury and because of the pandemic). I hope it returns to normal next year and if I am part of the plan. I would love to be here. “
