MH projects future city hall with the rescue of public space

In order to have more walkable streets for the enjoyment of the residents, and lay the foundations for future urban planning, the Miguel Hidalgo mayor’s office presented RENACE MH, the Comprehensive Public Space Program that will promote the use of the urban system under the principles of accessibility, equity, security and sustainability.

The mayor, Mauricio Tabe, reported that this program has projects that encompass issues such as security, infrastructure, public space, quality of life and mobility, which will serve as a catalog of options for works that can be carried out in different areas of the demarcation and in which 80 million pesos will be invested this year.

He stressed that for the development of this project, his government invited the international urban planner, Guillermo Peñalosa, who has great experience and agrees on the importance of returning public space to people, after over time motorists left appropriating it.

“With this Public Space Program what we want to give is guidance to all our public servants on what we should do to do things better, but we also want to do things very differently, open it up to our neighbors, it is an absolutely transparent program”, the official explained.

He indicated that the Executive Directorate of Planning and Urban Development will update this catalog on a recurring basis with the ‘Recover-Activate-Protect’ axes, promoting urban infrastructure plans, cycling infrastructure, safe cruises, pocket public parks and neighborhood centers in areas where it can be used. better public space.

“That is what this Public Space Program is about, equity in public space, that we do not separate ourselves from each other, but on the contrary, that we are integrated,” he said.

Bernardo Farill, Executive Director of Planning and Urban Development, said that with this Program, the Miguel Hidalgo mayor’s office seeks to optimize underutilized spaces, rescue them and also create new areas such as low-speed corridors, pedestrianized streets, the creation of new parks and squares and the redesign of streets for the protection of pedestrians.

“We made a diagnosis of all the streets, of all the cruises, of all the public spaces of the mayor’s office and they were qualified in different ways, we were able to determine exactly who are the beneficiaries of all the parks of the Miguel Hidalgo mayor’s office, where there are park service, where the parks are used and at what level”, he explained.

Another guest at the event was the mayor of Álvaro Obregón, Lía Limón, who announced that she will replicate the Comprehensive Public Space Program in her government and recognized Mayor Tabe for his interest in the recovery of public spaces, since these actions even directly impact in reducing insecurity.

The event was also attended by the federal deputy, Margarita Zavala; the councilors, Dairén Pizaña and Altagracia Méndez; the councilors, Alberto Burguoa; Oscar Munguía, Diego Ramírez and part of the cabinet of the government of Miguel Hidalgo.
