Mexico registers 9,958 new cases of Covid-19 and 19 deaths


The Ministry of Health (Ssa) updated this Friday the figures of the pandemic in the country. The official number of accumulated Covid-19 infections that have been confirmed rose to 5,862,554 million and the number of deaths to 325,359.

Compared to yesterday’s figures, the new numbers mean that as of Friday’s cutoff, 9,958 more in Mexico have tested positive and 19 have died.

Regarding the number of active cases, the technical report indicates the presence of 59,186 active cases, with an incidence rate of 45.5 per 100,000 inhabitants. However, it is estimated that there could be up to 62,342 in the entire country.

In the last five weeks, the cases are concentrated in young people between 18 and 29 years old, followed by the groups of 30 to 39 years and 40 to 49 years.

The states with the highest incidence rates are Baja California Sur, Mexico City (leading in accumulated cases), Sinaloa, Quintana Roo, Yucatán, Nuevo León, Colima, Aguascalientes, Nayarit and Campeche.

The distribution by sex in confirmed deaths shows a predominance of 62% in men, with a median age of 64 years.
