Mexico analyzes issuing a sustainable bond this year in the Japanese market: Yorio

Mexico is considering issuing sustainable bonds this year in the Japanese market and seeks to develop its own of this type of debt, denominated in pesos, to launch sovereign or government papers, said this Wednesday the Undersecretary of Finance, Gabriel Yorio.

In an interview with the Banorte Financial Groupreleased this Wednesday morning, the official also stated that the recovery of the local economy will continue in 2022 but with limitations, however he declined to give specific figures.

“We made the first issue of the ODS bond (bonds linked to Sustainable Development Goals, ODS) in Europe in 2020, for seven years, then we did one for 15 years, in Europe as well. This year (…) we plan to do it now, not in Europe, we want to do it in the samurai market,” Yorio explained.
