Mexican Stock Exchange Closes With Profits; highlights Aeroméxico action

The Mexican stock exchange (BMV) closed the negotiations on Tuesday with a profit. The local stock market advanced after a wave of risk aversion that hit the main stock markets yesterday, due to fear of a new restriction period to combat the Covid-19 Omicron variant.

The benchmark index S&P/BMV IPC, made up of the shares of the 35 issuers with the highest value by capitalization and liquidity in Mexico, gained 0.89% and closed at the level of 52,085.28 points. The index FTSE BIVA, the main index of the Institutional Stock Exchange (Biva), gained 0.85% to close at a level of 1,075.89 units.

Within the benchmark, most of the components ended operations with 26 stocks in green and nine in red. The best performances among them were the Cemex shares, with 5.56%; Kimberly-Clark, with 2.97%, and Genomma Lab, with 2.88%; Outside the index, Aeroméxico rose 19.23 percent.
