Fashion’s biggest night returned to its regular schedule this year, and the looks were as extravagant as ever.
After two irregular years, in which the 2020 event was canceled and the 2021 event was pushed back to September, the Met Gala returned to its regular time slot on the first Monday in May.
The gala is an annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, with a world-class guest list packed with movie stars, fashionistas, athletes, businessmen and socialites.
Co-chairs for the night were Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, Regina King and Lin-Manuel Miranda. For the second year in a row, the honorary co-chairs are designer Tom Ford, Instagram boss Adam Mosseri and, as has been the case for the past 27 years, Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
‘Gold Glamour, White Tie’
This year’s dress code is “gold glamour, white tie,” and the stars are following HBO’s lead. the golden age, dressed in their best creams, ivories and golds. The Met Gala honors American designers this year with its theme, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” the follow-up to last year’s “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.”
Reynolds and Lively were one of the first couples to step onto the carpet.
Lively wore a copper-colored Versace dress with geometric details on the bodice. The bow-shaped ornament morphed into a baby blue train with metallic accents as she walked up the stairs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Her boyfriend, Vancouver-born Ryan Reynolds, wore a dapper velvet tuxedo, true to the evening’s white-tie theme, with a chain dangling from the cummerbund.
Billie Eilish wore a Gucci look with mint green lace sleeves and an ivory skirt gathered at the waist. Her characteristic jet black hair sat on top of her head, a black choker fastened around her neck.
pop singer said Fashion that the outfit was made entirely from recycled materials. “I just wanted to be as green as possible,” she said on the rug.
Janelle Monáe dazzled in a sparkly Ralph Lauren dress with a printed bodice and headpiece. She was wearing a cuff to match her elegant backless dress.
“This is gold glamor from the future,” said the Tightrope the singer told reporters.
we crashed star Jared Leto and Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele opted for a jaw-dropping look.
The couple wore a cream-colored tuxedo jacket with black lapels and jewel-encrusted trim, accessorized with leather gloves, sunglasses and silky red bows.
Rapper Megan Thee Stallion hit the red carpet in a gold Moschino dress with thigh-high leg slits.
The look was completed with a slicked-back hairstyle, heeled sandals and winged shoulder pads.
Spring is in the air! Mindy Kaling arrived in a dreamy lavender dress, with a matching bright purple lip and floral decals pinned to her shoulders.
everything everywhere at once star Michelle Yeoh wore a green dress with a dramatic train and bold red lipstick. Kiki Layne donned a sensational bubblegum pink with white gloves and floral embellishments on her bodice.
They are all designs by American fashion designer Prabal Gurung.
Rapper Kid Cudi wore a striking cobalt blue suit and cape on the carpet, accessorizing the look with ruffled sleeves, a dark bow tie and shiny black boots.
The crotch of her cape, made by Japanese fashion designer Nigo, was decorated with a blue and black floral design. cudi filled up Euphoria with jeweled accessories like tears under her eyes.
Anderson .Paak, one half of the Silk Sonic funk duo with Bruno Mars, wore a striking maximalist Gucci jacket.
The singer paired his colorful centerpiece with a blue dress shirt, leather tie, and flared leather pants.
Broadway star Cynthia Erivo stayed true to the evening’s dress code, stunning in a white gown layered with lace, a feathered train and jeweled amber necklace.
She completed the textured Louis Vuitton look with an extravagant headband.
A handful of stars donned burgundy outfits to match the red carpet.
Newly crowned Oscar winner Jessica Chastain wore Gucci in a sequined burgundy look with a matching headband. Model Gigi Hadid donned a striking floor-length padded coat with a corset and spandex pants underneath it. Actress Dakota Johnson wore a long red velvet gown over a black lace Gucci jumpsuit.
Shawn Mendes, born in Pickering, Ontario, wore a smart navy blue Tommy Hilfiger suit, complete with matching blue nail polish, a black turtleneck, and a single gold button fastened at the waist. In order not to be too cold, he carried with him a burgundy coat with the collar and sleeves buttoned up.
mendes said Fashion who opted for a sustainable fashion look: “I’m proud to be in this this year.”
Canadian model Winnie Harlow dazzled in her Iris van Herpen gown. The ballerina look was offset by an edgy black emblem sewn to the front and a dramatic headpiece with a crisp finish.
Hot pink from head to toe: Marvel star Sebastian Stan appeared in this monochromatic Valentino piece. In his bright neon jacket, pants, and sneakers, Stan wasn’t quite up for the golden glam, but he’s a distinctive look nonetheless.
Wintour arrived early on the red carpet. He wore a sequined skirt, open to the knee, with a pastel-colored feathered poncho.
The Met Gala is a celebration of fashion royalty, so it was only fitting that Wintour wore a dainty tiara over her trademark blonde locks.
