VON Windsor-Essex announced a $10,000 donation made Tuesday from Caesars Windsor Cares to VON’s Compassionate Meals program, offered through its well-known Meals on Wheels counterpart. Compassionate Meals provides free meals to seniors experiencing crisis or financial hardship.

“On behalf of Caesars Windsor, we are proud to continue to work with organizations like VON that effectively identify those in need and help improve the health and wellness of those most vulnerable in our community,” said Susanne Tomkins, manager of communications for Caesars Windsor .

Meals on Wheels delivered hot food to seniors’ doors Monday to Friday, year-round. The program is especially helpful for housebound individuals, people recovering from surgery or illness and people who can’t shop or cook for themselves.

“With rising food costs and our aging population, the need for Compassionate Meals has never been higher. With Caesars’ support, VON will be able to deliver more than 1,500 meals to seniors in crisis, right here in Windsor,” said Christine Brush, VON’s Meals on Wheels coordinator.

“It is only through the generosity of our donors and community partners that we are able to serve free meals when they are needed most.”
