Police south of Edmonton are asking for help locating a 28-year-old man who considers himself armed and dangerous.

In a press release Saturday afternoon, Maskwacis RCMP said the Samson Cree Nation suspect was on a release order on charges related to robbery and kidnapping when he allegedly hacked off an electronic monitoring device on Wednesday.

Police said officers are actively working to locate the suspect who is now charged and wanted for failing to comply with the conditions of a release order and mischief of less than $ 5,000.

He is described as being six feet five inches tall, weighing 266 pounds with brown eyes and brown or blonde hair, according to RCMP.

Brandon Joel Dennehy is believed to frequent the Maskwacis, Ponoka and Wetaskiwin area, police said. He is considered armed and dangerous, and the RCMP says the public should not approach him. If anyone sees Dennehy, they should call 911 immediately.
