Maple Leafs Adds Timothy Liljegren to COVID Health and Safety Protocol List

The Maple Leafs added another player to the COVID health and safety protocol list on Wednesday, with the addition of defender Timothy Liljegren.

The Leafs have had 15 players on that list, the second highest in the NHL behind Calgary at 20.

But seven of those Leafs team players returned to practice Tuesday: John Tavares, Jack Campbell, Jason Spezza, Wayne Simmonds, Travis Dermott, Alex Kerfoot and TJ Brodie.

Still out: Liljegren, David Kämpf, Ilya Mikheyev, Petr Mrázek, Rasmus Sandin, Morgan Rielly, William Nylander and Jake Muzzin.

Toronto’s next game is scheduled for New Years Day against Ottawa.

The Leafs have not played since Dec. 14 in Edmonton and have postponed games against Calgary, Vancouver, Seattle, St. Louis, Columbus and Pittsburgh. They have also postponed games next week against Carolina and Montreal.
