A 44-year-old man was taken to hospital after being stabbed in Côte-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grâce on Friday night.

Montreal police say they received a call around 11:45 pm about an altercation that broke out at the corner of Sherbrooke St. and Benny Ave. between the victim and at least one other person. The victim was conscious when taken to hospital, and police do not fear for his life.

Preliminary information suggests the man was stabbed with a sharp object by at least one suspect. The motive behind the altercation is still unknown.

Police intercepted multiple people at the scene and are trying to determine whether they witnessed the incident or if any are suspects.

No arrests have been made so far.
