Man runs into the street screaming as a distraught neighbor tries to save a woman’s life


University lecturer Dr Antonella Castelverde, 52, was stabbed to death at her home in Colchester, Essex, and an injured man found inside the property arrested on suspicion of murder.

A man ran into the street screaming after a university professor was stabbed to death in her home, locals said.

It is claimed that a distraught neighbor tried to save the life of Dr Antonella Castelverde after she suffered fatal injuries at her home in Colchester, Essex.

The 52-year-old man later died at the scene.

The police went to the semi-detached building at 11:45 a.m. last Wednesday due to a disturbance, according to the neighbors.

Officers found a man with injuries on the property. He was taken to hospital and arrested on suspicion of murder.

A pub worker, who asked not to be identified, said: “Some neighbors tried to revive her but were unsuccessful.

“Some say she was stabbed in self-defense, others say the man stabbed himself afterwards to attempt suicide.

“She was on the street after telling neighbors that he had stabbed her.

“It’s a surprise for the local community.

“I’m just sorry for [her] little girl She’s going to live with this for the rest of her life.”

Another publican told a reporter: “The man was on the streets afterwards.

“The neighbors tried to help her, but sadly she died.”

Dr. Castelvedere’s six-year-old daughter was at a summer camp when police were called to her family’s home, according to locals.

Suffolk University confirmed that Dr Castelvedere had died and paid tribute to her as “highly respected”.

A spokesperson said: “The Suffolk University community is deeply saddened by the untimely death of Dr Antonella Castelvedere.

“Antonella was a highly respected and beloved member of the university staff, where she was an outstanding academic in English and critical writing.

“Our thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time.”

The university’s website states that Dr. Castelvedere was also a course leader for the MA in Critical and Creative Writing.

Detective Chief Inspector Antony Alcock, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, which is leading the investigation, said detectives were “continuing to piece together the circumstances that led to this incident”.

He said investigations “suggest this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the general public in Colchester”.

DCI Alcock added: “A dedicated team of detectives continue to piece together the circumstances that led to this incident in Colchester.

“As part of that, officers continue to collect accounts from people who have come forward to speak with us.

“I would again appeal to anyone who may have information about this incident but has not yet contacted us to come forward, no matter how insignificant you think their information is.

“And I would also reiterate that our investigations so far suggest that this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the general public in Colchester.”
