Man Found Guilty of 2019 Vancouver Grandfather Murder – BC | The Canadian News

A man has been convicted of the murder of a Vancouver grandfather in 2019.

After four days of deliberation, a jury found Álvaro Julio Roche García guilty of first degree murder in connection with the death of Zenen Cepeda Silva.

Cepeda Silva, 69, was shot in the back at her home on Fraser Street and East 51st Ave. in January 2019. The judge called the murder cruel, cold-blooded and cowardly.

The horrified granddaughter and wife of the victim were at home when Cepeda Silva was shot and killed. The motive apparently involved a financial dispute.

Roche Garcia was automatically sentenced to 25 years in prison, Vancouver police said Tuesday.
